CERN Visit

CERN has been voted as one of the top 10 attractions of Geneva and a fascinating guided tour of its highlights is organized for the attendees of the ISPCS conference. Additionally, attendees could explore on their own the permanent CERN exhibitions that are publically accessible and free of charge.

CERN Guided Tour for ISPCS Attendees

The guided tour will take place on Friday 5th October 2018 from 13:00-17:00 (it might take up 30 min longer). Attendees willing to participate should register for the tour when registering for the conference.

ISPCS attendees will be guided by CERN employees to milestone locations where some of the most important scientific achievements in particle physics took place:

Please, see CERN visit website for more information, including important instructions and frequently asked questions.

CERN Permanent Exhibitions

CERN also offers visitors the opportunity to explore at your own pace two permanent exhibitions and better understand the issues CERN's physicists are trying to solve: given that the entire universe is made of particles, where do they come from? Why do they behave in the way they do?

  • Universe of Particles is the exhibition installed in the Globe of Science and Innovation. Dedicated to CERN’s main mission, this exhibition allows you to explore the world of particles by immersing you in a spectacular ambiance. Open Monday to Saturday - 10:00 to 17:00.
  • Microcosm is next to CERN Reception. Its exhibitions take visitors on a journey through CERN’s key installations. Follow the path of the particles from a bottle of Hydrogen, through the network of accelerators and on to collision inside vast experiments. Open Monday - Friday 8.30 - 17.30 and Saturday 9.00 - 17.00.

Admission is free.
